GIS Day 2021 (11/17/2021): Workshop on Getting Started with CyberGISX

CyberGIS Center for Advanced Digital and Spatial Studies (CyberGIS Center) is pleased to present a 1-hour workshop on GIS Day 2021: “Getting Started with CyberGISX” – an open online platform that provides streamlined and user-friendly access to advanced cyberinfrastructure and cyberGIS capabilities with an integrated software stack for computationally reproducible and data-intensive geospatial analytics.
Learning Objectives:
By participating in this workshop, you will
gain access to the CyberGISX platform and functionalities
get familiar with Python programming in the CyberGIS-Jupyter environment
conduct interactive mapping and visualization in Jupyter Notebook
become equipped to take on your own projects on CyberGISX
Prerequisites
Experience with the Python programming language
Experience with any commercial or open-source GIS tools

Learning your way around CyberGIS-Jupyter (Hands-on, 10 mins)

About the instructors
Dr. Anand Padmanabhan is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He holds a Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Iowa and has research interests in advanced cyberinfrastructure, geographic information science and systems (GIS), cyberGIS, distributed and high-performance computing, and geospatial data science. At the CyberGIS Center for Advanced Digital and Spatial Studies at UIUC, he leads the spatial algorithms and systems team to develop and operate cyberGIS capabilities and services to harness advanced cyberinfrastructure for geospatial discovery and innovation. He has served as an investigator for several projects funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and Environmental Protection Agency. He has published many peer-reviewed papers and is an author of a number of CyberGIS software tools.
Dr. Zhiyu Li is a Research Programmer in the CyberGIS Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He currently leads the hydro and innovative app team that develops cyberGIS technologies and applications to support the water science research community. Dr. Li holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and he was a postdoc researcher at Brigham Young University before he joined UIUC.
