Postdoctoral Researcher Position within the CyberGIS Center  

for Advanced Digital and Spatial Studies (CyberGIS Center) 

 

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaignfull-time, 100% 

(1year duration, with the possibility of extension) 

 

 

Responsibilities: 

The successful candidate will play key roles in research and education activities of multiple projects related to spatial modeling and simulation, geographic information science and systems (GIS), cyberGIS, machine learning, and/or geospatial approaches to solving public health problems.  Specific responsibilities includepreparing peer-reviewed publications and education materials, developing innovative geospatial data science capabilities with a particular focus on solving public health problemsparticipating in grant proposal writing, giving presentations at professional meetings, and providing consulting assistance for researchers and educators from various domains to conduct advanced digital and spatial studies.

Qualifications: Applicants should have received a recent Ph.D. in GIS, computer science, geography, public health, statistics, or a related field.  Research experience in the areas of agent-based modeling and/or deep learning is desirable.  Candidates will be considered if graduation with Ph.D. is expected by the target start date. 

 

The appointment will initially last for one year and may be renewed beyond that contingent upon availability of funding and adequate performance. 

 

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and relevant research. 

 

Start Date: As soon as possible after the closing dateAugust 15, 2020.
