Multiple Postdoctoral Researcher Positions within the CyberGIS Center for Advanced Digital and Spatial Studies (CyberGIS Center)

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, full-time, 100% 

(2-year duration, with the possibility of extension) 

Responsibilities: The successful candidates will play key roles in research and education activities of multiple projects including for example the newly funded NSF Institute for Geospatial Understanding through an Integrative Discovery Environment (I-GUIDE).  We are looking for candidates who are interested in joining a dynamic team environment to advance the frontiers of one or multiple geospatial science and technology areas such as geographic information science and systems (GIS), cyberGIS and cyberinfrastructure, geospatial artificial intelligence and data science, and data-intensive spatial analysis and modeling.  Specific responsibilities include preparing peer-reviewed publications and education materials; teaching GIS, geospatial computing, and/or spatial analysis courses; developing innovative cyberGIS and geospatial data capabilities to solve complex social and environmental problems; participating in grant proposal writing; giving presentations at professional meetings, and providing consulting assistance for researchers and educators from various domains to conduct advanced digital and spatial studies.    

Qualifications: Applicants should have received a recent Ph.D. in GIS, computer science, geography, information science, statistics, or a related field.  Candidates will be considered if graduation with Ph.D. is expected by the target start date. 

The appointment will initially last for two years and maybe renewed beyond that contingent upon availability of funding and adequate performance. 

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and relevant research. 

Start Date: As soon as possible after the closing date: November 19, 2021.
