Using NCSA’s Hadoop cluster for social media analytics

Researchers at the CyberGIS Center use the cluster for project called Move Pattern, including studying spatial diffusion of ideas using Twitter hashtags, dynamic analysis of neighborhoods in cities using people's movements, and a health and safety warning system. Read more

CyberGIS affiliate awarded Guggenheim Fellowship

The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation has awarded a 2015 Guggenheim fellowship to Wendy K. Tam Cho, a University of Illinois professor of political science and of statistics who conducts research on statistical and computational models for social science.

CyberGIS: infrastructure for massive geospatial data, processes

A consortium of government, academic and private-sector partners has come together to build the National CyberGIS Facility at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
